Your two-step code is not accepted
Why an authenticator code is refused, checking your device clock, signing in with a recovery code, and making a new set of codes.
The code is refused
The sign-in page says That code did not work. Codes last about thirty seconds, so try the current one.
Type the code your authenticator app shows now, not one from a moment ago.
Check your device clock
Codes are worked out from the time. After two refused codes the page adds Codes are time-based. If they keep failing, check your device's clock is correct.
Let the device that runs your authenticator app set its time automatically, then try a new code.
Use a recovery code
Use a recovery code instead is always shown on the two-step part of sign-in. Recovery codes look like XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. They were shown once, when you turned on two-step verification, and the server keeps only hashes of them, so they cannot be shown again.
Make a new set of codes
Once you are signed in, Generate new codes in Settings → Security replaces the whole set. The old codes no longer work.
